With over 2,500 Lara Croft statues and busts sold in the since
2002, the Lara
Croft/Tomb Raider franchise has been a favorite here at Comic Trek and
for our customers.
Varner Studios had the first mass-release product of Lara Croft, debuting
with the 12-Inch statue of Lara Croft in her classic tanktop and shorts.
Immediately following this item was a 5 1/2-inch Lara Croft bust, again
in her trademark tanktop.
In the summer of 2002, Varner released the Lara Croft in Evening Dress Statue.
Featuring Lara in a black evening dress with metallic flakes, this statue
captured Lara in a super-spy pose, with a gun in her hand and her holster
showing through the slit in her dress. This statue instantly became the
hottest Lara Croft collectible and is still our all-time best seller!
Lara Croft had received a new face when the Tomb Raider movie
made its debut in 2001 with Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft. In 2003, the
release of Tomb Raider 2: The Cradle of Life also brought this to the
Lara Croft Statues and Busts.
SOTA (State of the Art) Toys obtained the Lara Croft license and had instant
hits with the TR2: The Cradle of Life Statue & Bust. Using the latest scanning
technology, SOTA created a statue and bust set which featured an accurate,
digitally scanned likeness of Anglina Jolie, as she appeared in Tomb Raider 2:
The Cradle of Life. With edition runs of only 1500 and 1600
respectively, both items sold out within weeks of its release.
Early 2004 brought us the hottest looking statue of Lara Croft as SOTA released
Lara Croft in Wetsuit, inspired by Angelina Jolie's very sexy and revealing outfit
in Tomb Raider 2: The Cradle of Life. This statue was limited to just
2500 worldwide and is the hottest selling Lara Croft collectible since its
introduction!
